February is known as the "Love Month" as we all head to the store and buy candies, flowers and cards for Valentine’s Day. This is the time that I talked to the students about love and devotion. Our students need to understand the sacred ceremony of marriage. By using the story of George and Martha Washington we discussed what it takes to have a long lasting, healthy and happy marriage. For example, we must not look to others to find happiness; seek to give more than you seek to get; and have open communication and trust.

We also discussed what love really means and what Love isn't. Love isn’t jealous, Love is not selfish in our desires - true love waits! We must learn self-control and remembering that sex is meant between a husband and wife.
The sex talk is never a comfortable talk, but when we have middle schoolers who are getting pregnant and young men who are getting girls pregnant and walking away from any responsibility, then we must allow ourselves to endure some uncomfortableness to help our students have a better path in life.
